Your stories, your choices

The Hall now accepts real nominations for review. Here is what is saved, what becomes public, and how to withdraw a tribute. The separate letter preview and design demonstration still work differently.

Saved nominations and sign-in

Submitting a nomination requires Sign in with ChatGPT. The hosting platform provides your authenticated account identifier and may provide your email and display name. Your account identifier connects a nomination to you. The application checks sign-in email to recognize the site owner; it does not copy a contact email into the nomination record.

A saved nomination contains the parent or caregiver's display name, an optional general location, relationship, story, the public sender name you choose, language, consent confirmation, review status and timestamps. It also contains internal record identifiers, a version and a request fingerprint to prevent duplicate submissions. Do not enter street addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, private information about children, or other sensitive family details. Only nominate adults and confirm that you have permission to share the story publicly.

Review and public sharing

New submissions are pending. The signed-in submitter and the authorized site owner can access them; pending and rejected stories do not appear in public search. The owner reviews a nomination before approving or rejecting it. There is no promised review time and no automatic notification email. Check My tributes for its current status.

Approval makes the chosen parent name, general location, relationship, story, public sender name and date visible in the Hall. Account identifiers and contact email are not included in public results. People and search engines may copy public stories; removing a story from this site does not erase copies elsewhere.

Withdrawing a tribute

Use My tributes while signed into the account that submitted it. Withdrawal removes public visibility and clears the name, location, story, sender name, relationship and language from the active nomination row. The owner can also withdraw a tribute. The application retains a minimal account-linked record, identifiers, request fingerprint, status and timestamps for duplicate-submission and abuse controls. A withdrawn tribute cannot be restored through the site; start a new nomination if you want to submit it again.

This describes the application's current record handling. Hosting logs and provider backups may be retained separately; their retention periods have not been verified here.

The personal letter preview

The current letter tool uses the name, sender, memory, and quality you enter to update text on the page in your browser. Its script does not send those fields to a server or save them in browser storage. Selecting an email or printed edition changes the preview only; it does not deliver anything or submit an order.

The tool does not save a draft for you to return to after refreshing or leaving the page. Use its reset control to clear the current fields and restore the example. Your browser may separately remember or restore form entries through its own features, so refreshing is not a guarantee that every trace has been erased. If you want to keep your letter, make your own copy before leaving.

The fictional Hall demonstration

The Hall preview uses fictional profiles. Its nomination and suggestion forms simulate a review process. They do not send the words you type to a nomination service, publish them in the directory, or contact a parent or moderator.

When you submit a demo entry, the preview discards the form text and keeps a small review record in this browser: a generated record ID, the entry type, the creation time, and the simulated review status. It uses local browser storage when available and retains up to 30 demo records. If storage is unavailable, the records may remain only for the current page session.

You can remove the queue with the demo's “Clear demo entries” control, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. Use made-up details for the demonstration, and leave out addresses, contact details, and private information about children or other people.

Retailer links and purchases

The current gift guide links to external retailers using ordinary, nonaffiliate links. Clicking a link takes you to a separate website. That retailer handles any account, payment, order, or delivery information you give it, under its own terms and privacy information. The Hall's current preview does not process a gift purchase.

Ordinary website traffic

Loading a page still involves requests to our hosting provider. The provider may keep ordinary technical logs, such as an IP address, request time, requested page, or browser details. The letter tool's local behavior does not describe those infrastructure records, and we have not verified their retention periods. Your browser, extensions, and any external sites you visit may also handle information separately.

Paid services

Payments, email delivery and postal delivery are not enabled. The letter preview does not create a public tribute. Before sharing a letter or screenshot elsewhere, choose the audience and ask permission before including another person's private story.
